How does a whole house or home water purifier or filtration system work?
First of all let me talk about a home water purifier in the normal context of purifying ... when the word water purifier is used in a common sense it refers to removing suspended or insoluble solids from the water (like a swimming pool purifier) ... that is what the process of purifying is about. However the removal of solids is not the prime function of whole house or home water purifiers.
A home water purifier is filled with fine solid particles which would tend to trap suspended solids but these fine particles have more important and very special properties ... they adsorb into the particle the water contaminants such as explained above and which are actually dissolved in the water flowing through the bed of particles inside the water purifier. The particles within the body of the water purifier capture or purifier as it were the dissolved impurities in the water ... in this way the water is filtered of soluble impurities.
