Sweet Water Gaurdian Review

I've used this filter extensively in both mountaineering and canyoneering over the past six years. In the clear mountain streams of the Rockies it has performed exceptionally well and with the Silt Stopper attached it saves on cleaning and prolongs the life of the filter. However, in the canyons the water tends to be quite silty and will clog the filter rendering it useless (I would use Iodine instead). While Backpacking this Fall, the plastic pivot point where the handle attaches broke making the filter useless, fortunately I always carry Iodine as back up. I've worked in mountaineering shops in the past and have seen this filter come back with the same problem again and again. I think if they can engineer a stronger pivot point that this will solve the problem and make it one of the best filters on the market.
